Besucherzentrum De Klapekster befindet sich im ehemaligen Landstreicherbauernhof, im Herzen der Wortel-Kolonie. Im Jan Spannenburgmuseum - eine Hommage an einen der Pioniere des Naturschutzes in den Noorderkempen - erfährst du mehr über die faszinierende Geschichte des Gebiets und der zahlreichen Naturschutzgebiete in der Grenzregion. Es gibt regelmäßig interessante Themenausstellungen. De Klapekster ist der ideale Ausgangspunkt für deine Wander- oder Radtour im Gebiet. Dort findest du Broschüren über die ausgeschilderten Wanderungen (3 oder 11 km) und kannst nach deiner Tour ein Getränk genießen. Die Bildungspakete wirken sehr originell: von einer Familienrallye zu den Wohnungen von Vögeln, Säugetieren und Amphibien bis hin zu einer Trekkingtour mit einem Rucksack voller Materialien zur Erforschung der Natur.
