Am ersten Wochenende im Mai wird Munte von Riesen bevölkert! An der Spitze Onkel Miele, Tante Nitte und ihre Nachfahren, die aus den Komödien von Henri Van Daele und Romain De Coninck stammen. Und auch 'der Muntenaar', die Vergrößerung der Statue in der Torrekensstraat (geschaffen 1977), ist dabei. Die Anzahl der Riesen wuchs ins Auge fallend. 1955 startete Onkel Miele allein, jetzt ist es eine blühende Familie, vor allem dank der großartigen Feier zum 1000-jährigen Bestehen von Munte im Jahr 1990. Viele Gemeinden aus der Region senden an diesem Tag auch ihre Riesen nach Munte!
