Kapellen ist ein Ort und eine Teilgemeinde von Glabbeek in der Provinz Vlaams-Brabant. Kapellen war bis zur Gemeindereform von 1977 eine eigenständige Gemeinde. Unter dem Ancien Régime war Kapellen eine eigenständige Herrschaft. Juristisch fiel es unter die Meierij von Halen im Viertel von Löwen des Herzogtums Brabant. Nach der französischen Invasion wurde Kapellen als Gemeinde dem Kanton Glabbeek des Départements Dijle zugeordnet. Dieses Departement wurde, nachdem die Franzosen vertrieben waren, in die Provinz Südbrabant umgewandelt, die spätere belgische Provinz Brabant.
