In der keltischen Sprache bedeutet ster oder staer Fluss und die radikale ny ist abgeleitet von niacum, was wohnen bedeutet. Es ist daher sehr wahrscheinlich, dass Lesterny "Wohnung am Rande des Bachs" oder "von dem Fluss" bedeutet.
