Villers, ein kleines Dorf in der Condrusian, das bis in die Neolithische Zeit zurückverfolgt werden kann, hatte seine erste Entwicklung in der Römerzeit. Tatsächlich lag das Dorf nahe der römischen Straße, die Tongeren mit Arlon verband. Es ist dieser römische Einfluss, der ihm seinen Namen gibt. Der Toponym Villers (in Wirklichkeit Vilé) stammt vom lateinischen "villare", abgeleitet von dem Wort villa. Zunächst bezieht es sich auf ein Stück Land, das von einer Villa abhängig ist, dann sukzessive auf einen Bauernhof, ein Dorf und ein Dorf.
