Von 1988 bis 1993 bekam Schaffen für eine seiner Schulen einen berühmten Schulleiter. Zumindest, berühmt würde er sicherlich später werden. Es war Michel Wuyts. Wuyts ist vor allem als Radsportkommentator bei der VRT bekannt. Er kommentiert unter anderem die Tour de France, die Weltmeisterschaft und die meisten Klassiker, meist zusammen mit José De Cauwer, manchmal mit Karl Vannieuwkerke. Im Cyclocross gibt er meistens zusammen mit dem ehemaligen Weltmeister Paul Herygers Kommentare ab.
