Du bist am Rand des naturpädagogischen Gebiets das Spei angekommen. Im Jahr 1988 haben Schulen aus Oudenaarde hier einen Laubwald angelegt. In den folgenden Jahren übernahm der städtische Umweltdienst auch die angrenzenden Flächen. Kleine Landschaftselemente wie Kopfbaumreihen, Gehölzränder, Hecken, Hochstamm-Obstbäume und Amphibiengewässer prägen jetzt die Landschaft. Die Wiesen werden nur zweimal im Jahr gemäht, um der Flora und Fauna alle Chancen zu geben.
