You have arrived at the edge of the nature educational area, het Spei. In 1988, schoolchildren from Oudenaarde established a mixed deciduous forest here. In the following years, the urban environmental service also took charge of the adjacent plots. Small landscape elements, such as pollard tree rows, hedgerows, coppices, high-stem fruit trees, and amphibian ponds, now shape the landscape here. The grassland is mowed only twice a year to give fauna and flora every chance.
