Je bent aan de rand van het natuureducatief gebied het Spei aangekomen. In 1988 legden Oudenaardse schoolkinderen hier een gemengd loofbos aan. De jaren nadien nam de stedelijke milieudienst ook de aanpalende percelen in beheer. Kleine landschapselementen, zoals knotbomenrijen, houtkanten, kaphagen, hoogstamfruitbomen en amfibieënpoelen, bepalen hier nu het landschap. Het grasland wordt slechts twee keer per jaar gemaaid om fauna en flora alle kansen te geven.
