In der Nähe des Gemüsemarkts steht ein Bustäfelchen von der Fonne. Alfons de Pagie (1953-1998), alias 'de Fonne' oder 'der Nachtbürgermeister von Lokeren', erhielt ein Denkmal auf dem Platz, wo sein Zuhause war, wo er ein Café führte und wo im August jährlich die Fonne-Feste stattfinden. Willy Linthout verewigte ihn im 133. Urbanus-Comic 'Lokerse Paardenworsten'.
