Antwerpen hat die Kirche des Christ-Roi anlässlich der Weltausstellung von 1930 gebaut. Es gab damals nicht einmal die Avenue Jan De Voslei. Genau dort haben einige der Ausstellungen und Veranstaltungen stattgefunden. Die Kirche war von einem Rosengarten umgeben. König Albert I und Königin Elisabeth haben die Ausstellungen eröffnet.
Bis zum heutigen Tage ist die Kirche Pfarrkirche. Sie ist im Art-Déco-Stil errichtet und besitzt zeitgenössische Kirchenfenster. Bezüglich der Verzierungen und der Kuppeln ist der Architekt Jos Smolderen dem Vorbild der zur gleichen Zeit entstehenden Basilika von Koekelberg gefolgt. Der hoch aufgeschossene Turm wurde 1975 verkürzt, weil die Spitze nicht stabil war.
Das Komitee „Kristus Koning“ organisiert Konzerte, die den Klang der monumentalen Orgel von Klais (1930) zur Geltung bringen.
