Im Dörfchen Oud-Rekem, das vielfach als „schönstes Dorf Flanderns“ bezeichnet wird, befindet sich auf dem Groenplaats die Sankt-Peters Museumskirche.
Das Gebäude hat 1704 die Schlosskapelle auf dem Landgut des Grafen Ernest d'Aspremont Lynden ersetzt. Wegen Streitigkeiten zwischen klerikalen und staatlichen Machthabern wurde der Kirchenbau erst 1723 beendet. Leider brannte die Kirche 1755 vollständig aus, wurde aber 1774 neu aufgebaut. Bis 1956 wurde sie unverändert genutzt bis im „Kleinveld“ eine neue errichtet wurde. Seit 1969 steht die Kirche unter Denkmalschutz. Ab 1970 wurde sie in eine Museumskirche umfunktioniert, deshalb finden seither dort eine Reihe von Kulturveranstaltungen statt.
Die Innenausstattung stammt vorwiegend aus dem 18. Jh. Man bewundert zahlreiche außergewöhnliche Details wie trompe-l'oeil-Effekte, ein prächtiges Prozessionsportal, ein romanisches Taufbecken und einen heiligen Brunnen. Die Kirche besitzt einen eigenartigen Dachstuhl.
