Spanisches Fort aus dem 16. Jahrhundert, von dem aus das belagerte Ostende bombardiert werden konnte. Während des Ersten Weltkriegs wird dieses gut erhaltene Fort von deutschen Truppen eingenommen, mit einem Bunker verstärkt und als Beobachtungsposten in überflutetem Gebiet genutzt.
'Das Alte Fort', wie die Deutschen es nennen, liegt besonders strategisch am Kanal und mit Sicht auf das Schleusenkomplex von Nieuwpoort. Daher wird es regelmäßig bombardiert.
Das Fort ist heute noch als Erhebung in der flachen Polderlandschaft sichtbar. Es ist seit 1981 als Denkmal geschützt.
