Die Geschichte des Dorfcafés folgte jahrzehntelang dem Rhythmus des täglichen Lebens in diesem ländlichen Dorf. Einige Jahre vor dem 20. Jahrhundert wurde hier das erste Bier gezapft. Höchstwahrscheinlich geschah dies nach der Hochmesse, denn das ist so geblieben, bis De Kroon auf dem Radar der Tagesausflügler auftauchte. Oft wurden sie durch das Bild von Mullem angelockt, wie es in Filmen und Serien im Fernsehen zu sehen war.
