Die Lakenhal von Herentals ist eine klassische Lakenhal aus dem Mittelalter. Der dazugehörige Turm war ein Belfried. Heute enthält er ein Glockenspiel mit 49 Glocken. Es ist eines der 56 Belfriede in Belgien und Frankreich, die zum UNESCO-Weltkulturerbe erklärt wurden. Vor 1430 wird das Gebäude als gulden huys, 'meethuys und loter-huis erwähnt. In diesem Jahr erhielt es den Namen 'Rathaus'. Im fünfzehnten Jahrhundert wurde es von den Tuchmachern und Wollwebern als Lakenhal neu erbaut. In alten Dokumenten, die vor 1430 datiert sind, wird das Gebäude als 'Rathaus' erwähnt.
