Willy Vandersteen wuchs in der Seefhoek auf und das prägte die Geschichten, die er für Suske und Wiske schrieb, sowohl in den Kulissen, in denen die Seefhoek regelmäßig auftauchte, als auch in den Geschichten selbst. So lautete der Ruf "Antigoon Vorwärts!" im Album Das Amoras-Eiland in der ursprünglichen Version "Seefhoek Vorwärts". In dem Viertel gibt es derzeit einen Willy Vandersteen-Platz, außerdem hat die Stadt einen Spaziergang mit dem Titel "Seefhoek Vorwärts!" initiiert.
