Willy Vandersteen creció en Seefhoek y esto influenció las historias que creó para Suske y Wiske, tanto en los decorados donde Seefhoek aparecía regularmente como en las historias mismas. Así, el grito "Antigoon Vooruit!" en el álbum La isla Amoras en la versión original era "Seefhoek Vooruit". En el barrio hay actualmente una plaza Willy Vandersteen, y la ciudad también ha organizado una caminata titulada "¡Seefhoek Vooruit!".
