Naturschutzgebiet De Kevie ist aufgrund seiner wertvollen Flora, Fauna und Lage im Jekertal eines der wichtigsten Naturschutzgebiete von Haspengouw. Mehr als 300 Pflanzen sind dort anzutreffen, darunter Orchideen, Wasserfeder und Pfeilkraut. Unter den Tierarten erwähnen wir Brutvögel, mehrere Fische und Amphibien. De Kevie ist eines der drei Teile des Landschaftsparks der östlichen Jeker. Die beiden anderen umfassen hauptsächlich Schilfmoore und sind unter den Namen Groß Meers und Hardel bekannt.
