Description

Schorisse ist das Geburtsdorf des Schriftstellers Omer Wattez (1857-1935), der laut einigen die Bezeichnung 'Flämische Ardennen' prägte. Wattez war ein Verfechter des Tourismus in seiner geliebten Region und setzte sich für Themen ein, die heute besonders aktuell sind: den Schutz der Umwelt, die Rückkehr zur Natur und kleine Erholung. In der Hofveldstraat stand die Brauerei de Merchie. Während des Zweiten Weltkriegs kam die Produktion jedoch zum Stillstand. Die ehemalige Brauerei ist jetzt ein Wohnhaus.
