Der Kotje Piepersbos grenzt an den Hellegatbos und ist im Eigentum der Gemeinde Heuvelland. Dieser Wald verdankt seinen Namen der Dorfsfigur Cyriel Vanuxem, besser bekannt als Kotje Piepers. Er und seine Frau Maria Lenoir hatten es nicht besonders reich. Um ein wenig Geld zu verdienen, schmuggelte Maria Lenoir Butter über die 'Schreve'. Sie befestigte die Butterpäckchen an ihren Beinen und zog mit einem weiten langen Rock die Grenze über. Es dauerte nicht lange, bis sie den Namen Marietje Buterbille erhielt.
