Die Gespensterlinde ist ein jahrhundertealter, vierstämmiger Baum und wurde der Überlieferung nach zur Zeit von Kaiser Karl (1500 - 1555) als Maibaum gepflanzt. Er hat eine seltsame Form, steht aufrecht in der Mitte der Ebene. Er wurde mehrmals vom Blitz getroffen und blieb dennoch stehen. Sein Stamm ist ausgehöhlt, ausgebrannt, verunstaltet durch unzählige Prellungen. Von dem Baum selbst ist kaum mehr als eine Rinde übrig, die das Wachsen verlernt hat und aus der kraftlose Äste voller Blätter sprießen.
