In den 50er Jahren kaufte die Familie Serneels, zuvor Betreiber der Aarschotse Wascherei Zonneklaar, das Gelände. Der Bauernhof war in einem sehr erbärmlichen Zustand und wurde als Schafstall genutzt. In den folgenden Jahren wurde das Gebäude, vor allem durch die Tochter Clairette, die aktiv bei den Pfadfindern war, umgebaut zu einem Jugendheim Kabouterland. Der Bauernhof hieß Kabouterhoeve. Jahrzehntelang kamen Jugendbewegungen in Zelten campen oder übernachteten in einem der Schlafsäle. In den Anfangsjahren des 21. Jahrhunderts wurden diese Aktivitäten jedoch eingestellt.
