In the mid-1950s, the Serneels family, formerly the manager of the Aarschotse Wasserij Zonneklaar, bought the site. The farm was in a very poor state and was used as a sheep pen. In the following years, partly due to the efforts of daughter Clairette, who was active in the scouts, the building was converted into a youth center Kabouterland. The farm was called Kabouterhoeve. For decades, youth movements came to camp in tents or stay in one of the dormitories. However, in the early years of the 21st century, these activities were discontinued.
