Nel mezzo degli anni '50, la famiglia Serneels, precedentemente gestore della Lavanderia Zonneklaar di Aarschot, acquistò il terreno. La fattoria era in condizioni molto precarie ed era utilizzata come stalla per le pecore. Negli anni successivi, l'edificio, grazie all'intervento della figlia Clairette, attiva negli scout, fu trasformato in un soggiorno giovanile chiamato Kabouterland. La fattoria si chiamava Kabouterhoeve. Per decenni, i gruppi giovanili venivano a campeggiare in tende o a soggiornare in una delle sale per dormire. Tuttavia, nei primi anni del 21° secolo, queste attività furono interrotte.
