In het midden van de jaren '50 kocht de familie Serneels, voorheen uitbater van de Aarschotse Wasserij Zonneklaar, het terrein. De hoeve was in zeer erbarmelijke staat en werd gebruikt als schapenstal. De daaropvolgende jaren werd het gebouw mede door toedoen van dochter Clairette die actief was bij de scouts, verbouwd tot jeugdverblijf Kabouterland. De hoeve heette Kabouterhoeve. Decennialang kwamen jeugdbewegingen in tenten kamperen of logeren in één van de slaapzalen. In de beginjaren van de 21e eeuw werden deze activiteiten echter stopgezet.
