Bis 1961 wurde dieser Ententeich verwendet, um Wasservögel wie Wildenten, Wintertalge, Pfeilenten und Schlattenten zu fangen. Dabei wurden oft tame Lockenten und Kooikerhunde eingesetzt, die die Wildvögel in die Fangröhren locken sollten. Dieser Ententeich ist der einzige in Belgien, der in seiner ursprünglichen Form rekonstruiert wurde.
