Jusque en 1961, ce filet à canards était utilisé pour attraper des oiseaux aquatiques, tels que les canards sauvages, les sarcelles d'hiver, les canards siffleurs et les canards colverts. On utilisait souvent des canards apprivoisés et des chiens de filets pour attirer les oiseaux sauvages dans les tuyaux de capture. Ce filet à canards est le seul en Belgique qui a été reconstruit dans sa forme originale.
