Ophasselt ist ein Dorf in der belgischen Provinz Ostflandern und ein Teilgemeinde der Stadt Geraardsbergen. Es ist ein ländliches Wohn- und Landwirtschaftsdorf. Ophasselt wird von der N8 durchzogen. Der Ort liegt in der Denderregion.
Alte Erwähnungen des Ortes reichen bis 963 und 1015 zurück als "Haslud". Im 11. Jahrhundert besaßen das Gentse Sint-Pietersabdij und das Kloster von Verdun im Gebiet Pachtstellen. In den folgenden Jahrhunderten lag die Herrschaft bei den Herren von Hasselt. Ophasselt bestand im 15. Jahrhundert aus drei Herrlichkeiten, nämlich Freiheit, Moenebroek und dem Dorf, wo auch die Kirche stand. Im Jahr 1661 wurde Ophasselt zum Grafschaft erhoben, im Besitz von Philip Frans du Faing.
