Obwohl die Mühle wunderschön restauriert wurde, kann man vom Straßenseite wegen der hohen Hecke fast nichts vom Gebäude sehen. Und das Rad hinten wird von einem wuchsenden Busch und einem Teppich aus Brombeeren verborgen. Bedauerlich.
Während des Ersten Weltkriegs waren dort belgische Soldaten untergebracht. Bei dem deutschen Angriff wurde die Scheune durch eine Granate zerstört, aber die Mühle blieb verschont. 1923 wird Emile De Ryck das zerstörte Gebäude abreißen und eine neue Scheune, Stallungen und eine Bäckerei bauen, teilweise mit Recyclingmaterialien. Das Jahr 1923 ist auf einem gemauerten Limonitstein eingraviert. De Ryck wird auch das vertikale und rollende Innere durch das aktuelle Antriebsgetriebe aus Schmiedeeisen ersetzen, das von einer in Orp-le-Grand abgerissenen Mühle stammt.
