Neun dreifache Nistkästen für Schwarzmilan wurden auf einem der Türme der ehemaligen Brauerei Belle Vue installiert, basierend auf den Ratschlägen der Arbeitsgruppe Mauersegler. Dieser Zugvogel ähnelt auf den ersten Blick einer Schwalbe. Er baut jedoch kein Nest, sondern nistet in Höhlen. Der Schwarzmilan verbringt den Großteil seines Lebens im Flug und jagt ständig Insekten. Von April bis August ist er in unseren Regionen präsent und überwintert in Südafrika, mehrere tausend Kilometer von hier entfernt. Die Paare sind ein Leben lang treu und können denselben Nistplatz über 15 Jahre lang nutzen. Die Nähe zum Kanal ermöglicht es ihm hier, zu trinken.
