Hier in der Gegend um Hemsrode wird Waldumbau betrieben. Die Gebiete selbst können (noch) nicht betreten werden, aber es gibt tertiäre Straßen, so dass einiges zu sehen ist.
2013 wurde der Pappelbestand abgeholzt. Der wertvolle Unterwuchs und junge Bäume wurden bewusst erhalten, um von Anfang an eine Altersverteilung zu erhalten. Der Wald wurde dann mit Arten bepflanzt, die im Auwald vorkommen (Auwald ist Feuchtwald und daher anfällig): Schwarzerle, Stieleiche, Traubeneiche, Hasel, ...
Die Gesamtfläche beträgt 4,4 ha.
