Louise-Marie, ein Weiler an der Grenze zwischen Maarkedal und Ronse, hat eine relativ junge Geschichte. Die Gemeinde entstand in der niederländischen Ära (1815 - 1830) als Ergebnis einer natürlichen, sozialen und geografischen Verbindung zwischen Einwohnern der Gemeinden Ellezelles, Ronse, Nukerke, Schorisse und Etikhove.
Die Pläne zum Bau einer eigenen Kirche wurden durch die Unabhängigkeit Belgiens ad acta gelegt. Schließlich wurde der Grundstein der Kirche 1850 gelegt. Der Tod der ersten belgischen Königin, Luise Marie d'Orléans, am Tag der Grundsteinlegung würde den Namen der Pfarrei Louise-Marie erklären, obwohl dies der Fall ist lässt sich nicht mit Sicherheit sagen.
