1860 wurde eine Kapelle zum Gedenken an den früh verstorbenen Sohn Georg von Baron Frederic van der Bruggen eingeweiht.

In dieser Kapelle wurden Messen gefeiert, so dass diese Kapelle auch den Bewohnern der Gegend zu Diensten kam, wodurch der Gang zur Sint-Amanduskerk in Wingene vermieden werden konnte. Die Kapelle wurde 1884 um Seitenschiffe , eine Sakristei und einen Lettner erweitert. 1897 wurde die Kapelle zur Pfarrkirche erhoben. 1947 wurde eine neue Sakristei angebaut.
