Dieses Denkmal erinnert an Aimé Meiresonne, den Gründer der damaligen Brauerei Meiresonne. Diese befand sich von 1871 bis 1918 an der Ecke Brouwerijstraße und Grote Heirenthoek. Nach dem Krieg gründete Aimé eine neue Niederlassung in Gent. Es wurde die Lebensgrundlage für Hunderte von Arbeitnehmern aus Nevele und Umgebung. 1964 übernahm Stella Artois die Brauerei.
Das Denkmal entstand im Jahr 2008 auf Anfrage der Meiresonne-Arbeitsgruppe anlässlich des 120. Geburtstags von Aimé.
