Balje [ˈbaljə] ist eine Gemeinde im niedersächsischen Landkreis Stade und seit 1971 ein Teil der Samtgemeinde Nordkehdingen.
Balje befindet sich im Land Kehdingen an der Deutschen Fährstraße, zwischen Oste und Elbe – die Stadt Brunsbüttel befindet sich am gegenüberliegenden Elbufer. Die Landschaft ist geprägt durch den Elbdeich, der in die Abschnitte Hörner Außendeich und Baljer Außendeich untergliedert ist, östlich schließen sich der Wechtern-Außendeich und der Stellenfleth-Außendeich an.
