Immenhausen liegt in Nordhessen etwa zwölf Kilometer nördlich der Innenstadt Kassels am Südwesthang des Reinhardswalds. Der Ort wird in Ost-West-Richtung von der Holzkape, einem Esse-Zufluss, durchflossen, die vom fünf Kilometer nordöstlich befindlichen Junkernkopf kommt und unterhalb der Kernstadt die Spechtenbeck aufnimmt. An diesem Berg entspringt auch der den Ortsteil Holzhausen durchlaufende Osterbach, ein Zufluss der Fulda.
