Nettelsee ist eine Gemeinde und ein Dorf in der Region Barkauer Land im Kreis Plön in Schleswig-Holstein. In rund 400 m Entfernung befindet sich ein See mit gleichem Namen. In der Gemeinde leben etwa 430 Personen .
Die Gemeinde Nettelsee liegt etwa 16 km nordöstlich von Neumünster und etwa 8 km südwestlich von Preetz an der Bundesstraße 404 bzw. A21 von Kiel nach Bad Segeberg. Von 1911 bis 1961 war der Ort Bahnstation der Kleinbahn Kiel–Segeberg, deren Gleise bereits 1962 abgebaut wurden.
