Gaggenau ist eine Stadt im Westen Baden-Württembergs rund acht Kilometer nordöstlich von Baden-Baden. Sie ist nach der Kreisstadt Rastatt und vor der Stadt Bühl die zweitgrößte Stadt des Landkreises Rastatt und bildet zusammen mit der südlichen Nachbarstadt Gernsbach ein Mittelzentrum innerhalb der Region Mittlerer Oberrhein. Der Ort gewann im späten 19. und im 20. Jahrhundert durch große Industrieansiedlungen an Bedeutung und erhielt 1922 das Stadtrecht. Seit dem 1. Januar 1971 ist Gaggenau eine Große Kreisstadt.
