Berlin-Staaken liegt im Naturraum der Zehdenick-Spandauer Havelniederung. Im Nordosten grenzt Staaken an das Falkenhagener Feld, im Osten liegt Klosterfelde zwischen Staaken und dem Kern des Bezirks Spandau . Im Westen und Süden bildet der Ortsteil die Berliner Stadtgrenze zum Land Brandenburg , im Nordwesten davon zur Stadt Falkensee, im Südwesten nach Dallgow-Döberitz und im Süden nach Seeburg.
Während der historische Teil Staakens um das alte Dorf im Norden und Süden überwiegend durch Einfamilienhaussiedlungen sowie die Gartenstadt Staaken geprägt sind, bestehen der östliche Teil und Neu-Staaken überwiegend aus Großsiedlungen, die seit dem Ende der 1950er bis in die 1970er Jahre in mehreren Bauabschnitten entstanden sind.
