Berlin-Staaken ligt in het natuurlijke gebied van de Zehdenick-Spandauer Havelniederung. In het noordoosten grenst Staaken aan het Falkenhagener Feld, in het oosten ligt Klosterfelde tussen Staaken en het centrum van het district Spandau. In het westen en zuiden vormt de stadswijk de Berlijnse stadsgrens met de deelstaat Brandenburg, in het noordwesten met de stad Falkensee, in het zuidwesten naar Dallgow-Döberitz en in het zuiden naar Seeburg.
Terwijl het historische deel van Staaken rond het oude dorp in het noorden en zuiden voornamelijk wordt gekenmerkt door eengezinswoningcomplexen en de tuinwijk Staaken, bestaat het oostelijke deel en Neu-Staaken voornamelijk uit grootschalige nieuwbouwprojecten die sinds het einde van de jaren 1950 tot in de jaren 1970 in verschillende bouwfasen zijn gerealiseerd.
