In der Eifel liegt zwischen den weitläufigen Wäldern ein gigantisches Radioteleskop. Die Schüssel hat einen Durchmesser von 100 Metern. Damit ist das Radioteleskop eines der größten beweglichen Radioteleskope der Welt. Das "Radio-Observatorium Effelsberg" liegt östlich der Touristenstadt Bad Munstereifel und ganz in der Nähe des Dorfes Effelsberg.
