Der Aschersleber See ist ein See im Harzvorland und grenzt an das Stadtgebiet von Aschersleben. In früheren Jahren wurde er auch als Gatersleber See oder Wilsleber See bezeichnet und seit dem Zweiten Weltkrieg von den Einwohnern Ascherslebens auch Junkerssee genannt, da er unmittelbar an ein Werk der Junkers Flugzeug- und Motorenwerke grenzte.
Vor Beginn unserer Zeitrechnung lag nordwestlich von Aschersleben eine weite Wasserfläche, die bis Gatersleben und kurz vor Quedlinburg reichte und aus deren sumpfiger Oberfläche Inseln und Halbinseln herausragten. Durch den Fisch- und Wildreichtum, sowie das zahlreich vorhandene Schilf an den Ufern des Sees, wurden vor Jahrtausenden Siedler an den See gelockt.
