St. Ursula ist eine der zwölf großen romanischen Basiliken in der Altstadt Kölns. Sie ist der heiligen Jungfrau und Märtyrin Ursula und ihren Gefährtinnen geweiht. Papst Benedikt XV. erhob St. Ursula 1920 zur Basilica minor.
Die Vor- und Frühgeschichte von St. Ursula wird heute anhand von archäologischen Funden der Kriegs- und Nachkriegszeit sowie der kritischen Interpretation der Legenden rund um die „Kirche der heiligen Jungfrauen“ rekonstruiert. Hinzu kommt die steinerne Clematius-Inschrift, die vielleicht aus dem 9. oder 10. Jahrhundert stammt, aber auch, wie früher angenommen um das Jahr 400 entstanden sein könnte:
