Die Niedersächsische Staats- und Universitätsbibliothek Göttingen ist die zentrale Universitätsbibliothek der Georg-August-Universität Göttingen und Bibliothek der Akademie der Wissenschaften zu Göttingen. Sie ist eine der größten wissenschaftlichen Bibliotheken Deutschlands. Aufgrund ihrer überregionalen Aufgaben in der Literaturversorgung erhielt sie 1949 die zusätzliche Bezeichnung Staatsbibliothek. Bekanntestes Werk ihres Bestands ist ein Werk des UNESCO-Weltdokumentenerbes.
Die Bibliothek wurde 1734 gegründet. Untergebracht war sie ursprünglich in dem ersten Kollegien- und Bibliotheksgebäude der 1737 eröffneten Göttinger Universität, das auf das Gebäude eines ehemaligen Dominikanerklosters zurückgeht, und zwar zunächst im Obergeschoss des Mittelbaus um den inneren Hof herum.
