Kleinmachnow ist eine Gemeinde mit gut 20.000 Einwohnern im Landkreis Potsdam-Mittelmark in Brandenburg. Sie liegt südwestlich des Berliner Bezirkes Steglitz-Zehlendorf und östlich von Potsdam.
Erstmals im Landbuch Karls IV. von 1375 erwähnt, spielte der Ort eine wichtige Rolle am Bäkeübergang, den verschiedene mittelalterliche Burgen sicherten. Die letzte dieser sämtlich nicht erhaltenen Burgen gehörte den Rittern von Hake, deren Familie bis in das 20. Jahrhundert die Ortsgeschichte prägte. Der Ersatz der Bäke durch den Teltowkanal im Jahr 1906 bescherte dem Dorf die heute denkmalgeschützte Schleuse Kleinmachnow.
