Die Belagerung von Mainz 1689 war Teil der Kampfhandlungen des Pfälzischen Erbfolgekrieges und eine von mehreren Belagerungen der Festungsstadt.
Der Krieg begann 1688 mit dem Einfall französischer Truppen in die linksrheinischen Gebiete des Reiches. Dabei gelang den Franzosen u.a. die Eroberung der Festung Philippsburg sowie die mehr oder weniger kampflose Einnahme des kurkölner Territoriums und die Eroberung Mannheims und anderer Städte in Südwestdeutschland sowie die Zerstörung des Heidelberger Schlosses .
