1444 zum erstenmal erwähnt. Die Mühle mit Torhaus bildet den Abschluß der Oberen Freiheit zur Niederen Freiheit. Ausgebaut als Wehranlage diente das Gebäude in Notzeiten zum Schutz der Burg. 1910 wurde das Wasserrad durch eine Turbine ersetzt. 1963 ging die Mühle durch Kauf vom Grafen Landsberg in das Eigentum der Familie Beyer über. Bis Ende der 60er Jahre Mühlenbetrieb, danach nur noch Landhandel. Seit 1999 dient die Mühle nur noch zu Wohnzwecken. Wenn wir das Torhaus durchschritten haben, betreten wir das Gebiet der Oberen Freiheit.
