Am 30. April 1945 wurde die Möllering-Villa in Häcklingen zu Montgomerys Hauptquartier und befand sich in der Nähe des Hügels Timeloberg, der einen schönen Blick auf die Umgebung bot. Damals war er nicht bewaldet, wie er jetzt aussieht. Die (teilweise) Kapitulation und das Ende des Krieges fanden hier am 4. Mai statt, und deshalb benannte Montgomery den Hügel in "Sieg-Hügel" um und ließ dort eine Gedenktafel anbringen, die mehrere Male zerstört und gestohlen wurde.
Die deutschen Behörden haben noch nicht entschieden, wie sie mit diesem Gebäude verfahren wollen.
