Das Dorf Ochsenberg liegt im östlichen Teil der Schwäbischen Alb , am westlichen Rand des Härtsfelds auf einer Höhe von 617 m ü. NHN . Die Gemarkung umfasst 589 Hektar.
Der erste urkundliche Nachweis stammt aus dem Jahre 1538. Bereits Jahre zuvor wurde durch den im Königsbronner Kloster tätigen Abt Melchior Ruff auf einer Rodung im heutigen Weiler Holzmacher, Köhler und Tagelöhner angesiedelt. Der Dorfname entspringt der „Ochsenweide für das Kloster, oben auf dem Berg.“ 1572 wurde Ochsenberg zu Königsbronn angegliedert.
