Die heutige Mühle in Ennigerloh ist nicht die erste ihrer Art und hatte bereits mehrere Vorgänger. Aus dem Jahr 1498 stammt die erste urkundliche Erwähnung einer Mühle, erst 1869 wurde die bis heute überdauernde Mühle vom Mühlenbauer Wiek aus Wadersloh für die Eheleute Franzgrote gebaut. Alle vorherigen Mühlen wurden zerstört und wiederaufgebaut, ihre Geschichte wurde begleitet von vielen tödlichen Unfällen und einer Reihe von Eigentümern und Müllern.
